This paper presents the results of the development or negative-type optical
ly addressable liquid-crystal spatial light modulators that are promising f
or recording dynamic hologram-correctors, with an amorphous hydrogenated si
licon carbide photoconductor and a ferroelectric liquid crystal. The distor
ted-helix-ferroelectric effect is used to record the hologram-corrector. Wh
en diffraction gratings were recorded with a spatial carrier frequency of 3
0 mm(-1) and a reversibility of 300 Hz, the technical diffraction efficienc
y was at least 20%. (C) 2001 The Optical Society of America.
