Abstract
It is experimentally established that the surface tension of the tissues of malignant tumors is substantially less than that of the tissues of benign tumors. This explains the phenomenon detected earlier of homeotropic orient ation of the molecules of a nematic liquid crystal on malignant tumors and the almost planar orientation on benign tumors.
