Abstract
The frequency fluctuation model that provides a model for the description o f Stark broadening has been modified to include the effect of a uniform mag netic field. This model is a convenient framework for treating, in a non pe rturbative approach, simultaneously acting Zeeman and Stark effects, while retaining the effect of ion dynamics. The first applications of this model concern the Lyman-alpha line of hydrogen in discharge plasma conditions, an d the same transition for hydrogenic argon in high energy density plasmas. Line shapes of boron-like carbon observed in Tokamak edge plasma have also been calculated, and compared to experimental profiles. (C) 2001 Elsevier S cience Ltd. All rights reserved.
