The monograph of M.G. Yaroshevsky ''Behavioural science: Russian way''
gives good occasion to discuss the roles of I,M. Sechenov, I.P. Pavlo
v and I.S. Beritashvili in creation of the behavioural science which d
iscovers the ways of the experimental investigation of brain mechanism
s of behaviour, In particular, Sechenov's idea is discussed about the
psychic determination of behaviour as well as Beritashvili's concept c
oncerning the regulatory role of images in behaviour. The author agree
s with Yaroshevsky's idea that the category of behaviour cannot be red
uced to the notions of neurophysiology, on the one hand, and psycholog
y, on the other, however, he brings forward some reasons which support
his disagreement with the thesis about the existence nowadays of the
behavioural science which is neither physiology nor psychology.
