H. Fujishiro et al., Enhanced phonon heat conduction correlated with induced ferromagnetic metallic phase in Pr0.65Ca0.35(Mn1-ZCoZ)O-3, J PHYS JPN, 70(9), 2001, pp. 2616-2621
The thermal conductivity kappa (T), the diffusivity alpha (T) and the therm
al dilatation dL(T)/L have been measured for Pr0.65Ca0.35MnO3 and Pr0.65Ca0
.35(Mn1-ZCoZ)O-3 (Z = 0.02-0.10) crystals under the magnetic field of up to
5 T. By application of high magnetic fields or Co substitution for the Mn
site, the ferromagnetic metallic (FM-M) state are induced and kappa (T) and
alpha (T) are drastically enhanced below the ferromagnetic transition temp
erature T-F. The enhancement is closely related to the relaxation of the lo
cal Jahn Teller lattice distortion due to the increased hole mobility in th
e FM-M phase.
