Abstract
The damage nucleation of a duplex stainless steel is investigated. Electron Back Scatter Diffraction (EBSD) technique is used to correlate local phase morphology with crystallographic properties. In situ tensile tests are per formed to characterize strain fields and to monitor sites of damage nucleat ion. These observations are correlated with crystallographic orientations a nd finite element calculations. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights r eserved.
