Abstract
The heat capacity of He-3 in He-3-He-4 mixture films on a nuclepore substra te is reported over the temperature range 90 < T < 124 mK, for He-3 coverag es between 0.05 and 1.4 bulk-density atomic layers, and a He-4 film thickne ss of 4.33 bulk-density atomic layers. A step structure appears in the spec ific heat as a function of He-3 coverage. Combining NMR and specific heat d ata for He-3 atoms on the same substrate and for the same He-4 coverage all ows the two-dimensional Landau Fermi-liquid parameters F-0(A) of F-1(S) to be extracted as a function of He-3 coverage. We conclude that in the submon alayer He-3 coverage regime p-state pairing is favored.
