Abstract
Methyl daigremonate, an insecticidal bufadienolide, was isolated from the l eaves of Kalanchoe daigremontiana x tubiflora (Crassulaceae) along with fou r known bufadienolides. Its structure was established by spectroscopic anal ysis, and insecticidal activities were assessed against the third instar la rvae of silkworm (Bombyx mart). The results suggest that the orthoester and alpha -pyrone moieties played an important role in the activity. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
