Abstract
Nanocomposites of polypropylene-graft-maleic anhydride/clay and polypropyle ne/clay were prepared by melt blending using two different approaches. X-Ra y diffraction results showed an intercalated structure. Samples of nanocomp osites were exposed to LN light under atmospheric oxygen and their photo-ox idative stability was studied using FTIR and UV spectroscopy. The consequen ces of this photo-oxidation on the thermal stability and fire retardant per formance of the nanocomposites were also addressed from thermogravimetry an alysis and Cone calorimetry.
