Abstract
Limitations imposed on the pulse repetition rate due to the presence of the prepulse electron density are considered. The existence of the critical pr epulse electron density formulated by S I Yakovlenko [Quantum Electron. v. 30, No. 6, p. 501 (2000)] is analysed. It is shown that the approach adopte d in this paper does not prove the existence of critical density.
