New regularities discovered in properties of boranes with different numberof electrons and degree of their localization. Dicarboranes

New regularities were established for the properties of dicarboranes and th eir anions depending on the number of electrons and electronegativities of substituents. The property changes are quantitatively related to the degree of localization of the electron density on chemical bonds, such localizati on being determined by the energetics of the molecule. The conclusions made are based on the results of quantum-chemical calculations using the struct ural thermodynamic model.
