Abstract
The reactions of SnF2 and SbF3 with NbCl5 in acetonitrile or dimethyl sulfo xide were studied by F-19, Nb-93, and Sn-119 NMR spectroscopy. The products of reaction in acetonitrile are anionic, while those in dimethyl sulfoxide are neutral octahedral niobium chlorofluoride complexes. Tin(II) difluorid e and antimony(III) trifluoride are powerful sources of fluoride ions in th e preparation of metal chlorofluoride and fluoro complexes.
