Abstract
The complex salts [(o-C2B9H11)(2)M3+](2)M.2+.4bipy, where M = Fe, Co, or Ni , M' = Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Mn (M = M'), and bipy is 2,2'-bipyridyl, were synthe sized, The salts with M = Ni decompose to give 3-(2,2'-bipyridyl)-3,1,2-nic kelacarborane, when refluxed in alcohol, and to give 2-(2,2'-bipyridyl)-2,1 ,7-nickel-acarborane, when refluxed in dodecane (216 degreesC).
