A concept of a gas analyzer based on linear Raman spectroscopy is presented
. The radiation sources are laser systems emitting at visible or near infra
red wavelengths. The advantages of Nd:YLF laser systems as well as diode la
ser systems were investigated. The Raman technique offers the possibility t
o measure the concentration of different molecules with the same laser wave
length. As an example, the linear Raman scattering was used to measure the
composition and to determine the energy content of natural gas.
