Abstract
Late infection of flowering parts and uppermost leaves in adult sunflower b y zoospores of P. halstedii causes a latent type of the disease which often remains unrecognized due to only weak symptoms. Affected plants produce al most normal achenes which carry hyphae and oospores of the pathogen. The ep idemiological impact of this type of infection is discussed.
