Abstract
The reaction of (2-hydroxyethyl)diisopropylammonium chloride with CoCl2. 6H (2)O has resulted in the unusual formation of a quaternary piperazinium sal t with the formula (tippipz)[CoCl4], where tippipz is tetraisopropylpiperaz inium (C16H36N22+). The structure of this compound consists of sheets of or ganic ammonium dications and inorganic dianions formed by C-H . . . Cl hydr ogen bonds.
