Abstract
In the title compound, 2C(6)H(5)N=NC6H4NH3+.C2O42- or 2C(12)H(12)N(3)(+).C2 O42-, p-phenylazoaniline is protonated at the amine site to form an organic ammonium cation, and oxalic acid is deprotonated forming an oxalate dianio n. The latter occupies a special position at the inversion centre. The stru cture exhibits a layered hydrogen-bonded framework built up by N-H . . .O h ydrogen bonds.
