Abstract
Crystalline 2-chloro-2-propyl mesityl sulfone (alpha -chloroisopropyl mesit yl sulfone), C12H17ClO2S, exhibits much less rotational disorder of its alp ha -chloroisopropyl group than that exhibited by the alpha -bromoisopropyl group in the related crystalline 2-bromo-2-propyl mesityl sulfone.
