Abstract
In the title compound, 4-[2-(4-methylthiophenyl)ethenyl]-2-oxo-2H-1-benzopy ran-3-carbonitrile, C19H13NO2S, the benzopyran and phenyl rings are individ ually planar, but the phenyl ring is twisted 56.7 (1)degrees out of the ben zopyran ring plane. The configuration about the ethenyl double bond is E.
