Abstract
Lithium barium antimony, LiBaSb, crystallizes in the centrosymmetric hexago nal space group P6(3)/mmc. Ba atoms sit on positions with (3) over barm sym metry, while the Sb and Li atoms occupy sites of (6) over bar 2m symmetry. The structure of LiBaSb contains alternate hexagonal layers of (LiSb) and B a. In this compound, antimony is present as isolated Sb3- species. The Ba a tom lies inside a hexagonal prism (6 x Li and 6 x Sb).
