Abstract
The crystal structure of the title salt, C14H20N3+. BF4-, shows that the pe
ntamethinecyanine moiety of the cation is essentially planar and adopts an
all-trans conformation. The plane of the pyridyl substituent makes a dihedr
al angle of 60.58 (9)degrees with the pentamethinecyanine plane.
