Abstract
In this note I intend to underline the computational, methodological a nd conceptual importance of delay activity experiments in cognitively performing animals. The argument consists of two parts. First, a delin eation of the various dimensions affected by these experiments. Second , an outline, in the light of the first part, of several outstanding q uestions (or predictions) calling for future experimental and theoreti cal effort.
