The structure of the title compound, C12H15ClN2OS, (I), comprises a twisted thiazolium base that associates to a free Cl ion via N-H . . . Cl hydrogen -bonding interactions. The dihedral angle between the two ring systems is 7 9.65 (7)degrees.
