Effect of aerobic exercise training on plasma levels of tumor necrosis factor alpha in patients with heart failure

Twenty-eight men (mean age 67 +/- 8 years) with congestive heart failure (N ew York Heart Association functional class III) were examined by enzyme imm unoassays for levels of proinflammatory cytokines before and after a 12-wee k exercise training program. Results indicate that exercise training reduce s pathologically increased tumor necrosis factor alpha levels in this group .
