Activation cross-sections for 17 (n. np + d) reactions producing short-live
d nuclei with half-lives between 42 s and 23 min, were measured in the ener
gy range between 13.4 and 14.9 MeV by an activation method. The measured ta
rget isotopes were Mg-26, Si-29,Si- 30, Cr-53,Cr- 54, Zn-67, Sr-87, (98, 10
0) Mo, Ru-102, Pd-105. 106,Pd- 108, Te-123, Dy-163, Hf-179 and Os-189. Elev
en cross-sections for Mg-26. Si-30 Sr-87, Mo-100, Ru-102. Pd-105,Pd- 106. T
e-123, (163) Dy, Hf-179 and Os-189 were obtained for the first time, and fo
ur cross-sections for Cr-53,Cr- 54, Zn-67 and Pd-108 were obtained at six-p
oint energies for the first time. An intense 14 MeV neutron source, OKTAVIA
N at Osaka University was used for irradiation. All cross-section values we
re relatively obtained on the basis of the standard cross-section of Al-27(
n, alpha)Na-24 reaction (ENDF/B-VI). To obtain reliable neutron activation
cross-sections, careful attention was paid to neutron irradiation and induc
ed activity measurement. The present results were compared with the evaluat
ed data in JENDL-3.2, JENDL-Activation File and ENDF/B-VI. The cross-sectio
ns are underestimated for Ru-102 and Pd-108 in JENDL-3.2. (C) 2001 Elsevier
