CONGENITAL ESOPHAGEAL STENOSIS

Congenital esophageal stenosis caused by membranous webs occurred in t hree infants. There were no associated anomalies. First patient applie d with respiratory symptoms while the second and third patients report ed food impactions. Correct diagnosis was performed during intraoperat ive (first patient) and esophagoscopic examination (second and third p atients). Resection and anastomosis were performed in the first patien t and hydrostatic dilatations in the second and third patients. In thr ee patients, symptoms were relieved following treatment. In this repor t, etiology, diagnostic aids and management of this rare pathology are discussed.
