Twig blight of the medicinal plant mamaki is very common in the wild on the
island of Hawaii. This new disease was shown to be caused by Botryosphaeri
a ribis. The fungus also infected leaves of mamaki and produced blackish sp
ots of various sizes and shapes. Lesions on the leaf may expand and reach t
he petiole and twig. Twig blight of mamaki can originate from direct infect
ion of twigs by B. ribis as well as from leaf infection by the fungus.
