Abstract
The physical mechanism of the electric dipole-electric dipole (ED-ED) inter action may be looked at from several viewpoints in the calculation of the E D-ED energy transfer rate of rare earth ions in insulators. In this article , we demonstrate the equivalence of the results calculated from taking the ED-ED interaction as an energy transfer operation, or as a correction opera tor to the zero-order wavefunction of the donor-acceptor system.
