Contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has become an important
tool in the detection and characterization of focal hepatic lesions especia
lly when other investigations such as ultrasound (US) and computed tomograp
hy (CT) are inconclusive. The purpose of this pictorial review is to briefl
y summarize the properties of various MRI contrast agents used in hepatic i
maging and to highlight their role in evaluation of focal hepatic lesions.
