This study was conducted to evaluate the relationship between psychopa
thology and quality of life in individuals with schizophrenia. The fin
dings indicate that psychopathology, as determined by total Brief Psyc
hiatric Rating Scale (BPRS) score, correlates negatively with global l
ife satisfaction and subjective quality of life subscales, but not wit
h objective ones. When positive and negative symptom clusters were exa
mined, negative symptoms appeared to have a greater impact on subjecti
ve measures of quality of life.
