Abstract
The experiment included 27 Texel crossbred lambs and 12 Black Head lambs. B oth breeds were fed indoor on concentrate or on a pasture until live weight of about 42 kg. Grass fed lambs accumulated higher amounts of n-3 fatty ac ids and CLAcis-9,trans-11 in muscle compared to concentrate fed lambs. Besi des the contribution from landscape maintenance as well as nature preservat ion, a pasture feeding system can be corresponded to the consumer demand fo r healthier meat. Lamb meat is beneficial for human health due to the high concentration of n-3 fatty acids and CLAcis-9,trans-11.
