Abstract
In this paper we present the analysis of cavity backed rectangular patch an tennas with inhomogeneous chiral substrates. A variational formulation for the cavity antenna problem is firstly carried out and a Finite Element Meth od-Boundary Element Method (FEM-BEM) numerical technique is, then, applied in order to calculate both the radiation and the scattering properties of s uch antennas. The effects of the chirality and of the inhomogeneity are bot h pointed out through the numerical results presented.
