Study of an Fe-Ni alloy at high shock pressures: Comparison with data on iron under the conditions of the Earth's core

The results derived from experimental studies of melting of an Fe-Ni alloy and pure iron as a result of shock compression and subsequent isentropic ex pansion to normal pressure are compared with the data previously obtained i n experiments with shock-wave and static compression of these materials. Th e phase diagrams and melting curves are considered under conditions close t o those of the Earth's core.
