The instrumentation at the Protvino station was substantially upgraded duri
ng the period from 1997 to 1999. As a result, the amount of recorded inform
ation increased by a few times, and the resolution and actual accuracy of m
easurements improved. The paper presents the performance capabilities of th
e instrumentation (tiltmeters, strainmeters, barograph, well water-level ga
uge, and thermograph) and the digital system of geophysical data acquisitio
n. Information is recorded in a form suitable for on-line control and subse
quent analysis is conducted with the help of special software. Some results
of processing the recorded geophysical data, in particular, background noi
se and its dependence on the atmospheric conditions, are analyzed. The micr
odeformations of the Earth's surface are shown to depend on synoptic phenom
ena.
