Abstract
Semicarbazide (hydrochloride) and thiosemicarbazide react with alpha,beta - unsaturated ketones of the ferrocene series in excess of ' BuOK to give 1-c arbamoyl- and 1-thiocarbamoyl(ferrocenyl)-4,5-dihydropyrazoles. The condens ation with thiosemicarbazide is accompanied by the fragmentation of the sta rting alpha,beta -enones resulting in ferrocenecarbaldehyde or acetylferroc ene thiosemicarbazones.
