Abstract
Synthesis of 9-methoxycarbonyl-7H-[1]benzothieno[4,5,6-ij][2,7]naphthyridin -7-one (3)-an analogue of kuanoniamine A (1)-via hetero Diels-Alder reactio n of crotonaldehyde N,N-dimethylhydrazone with 2-methoxycarbonylbenzo[b]thi ophene-4,7-dione and subsequent annelation, is described. The Diels-Alder r eaction produced only the adduct with the desired regiochemistry, the struc ture of which was verified by 2D-NMR experiments.
