Abstract
Let MTI and W be the Schultz molecular topological index and the Wiene r index, respectively, of a benzenoid system. It has been shown previo usly [Klavzar, S.; Gutman, I. J. Chem. Inf. Comput. Sci. 1996, 36, 100 1-1003] that MTI is bounded as 4W < MTI < 6.93 W. We now improve this result by deducing the estimates 4W + lambda(1)W(2/3) + lambda(2)W(1/3 ) - 15 < MTI < 6W + lambda(3)W(2/5) - lambda(4)W(1/6) where lambda(1) = 4.400, lambda(2) = 1.049, lambda(3) = 14.760, and lambda(4) = 17.739 .
