A method for the correct characterization of the structure and texture of p
illared interlayered materials (PIM) is developed. This method is based upo
n the combined analysis of XRD and adsorption data within the frames of a g
eometrical PIM model. The application of this method is illustrated by anal
ysis of the structure of pillared montmorillonite clays. Among the structur
al and textural parameters successfully estimated by this method are specif
ic values of the accessible micropore surface A(m) and volume V-m, a degree
of the interlayer space filling by a guest (pillars), a degree of PIM orde
