Nl. Aleksandrov et al., POSSIBILITY OF NEGATIVE DIFFERENTIAL PLASMA CONDUCTIVITY IN 2 INTERVALS OF THE ELECTRIC-FIELD VALUES, Plasma physics reports, 23(7), 1997, pp. 610-615
Mixtures are found in which the negative differential conductivity (ND
C) of weakly ionized gases exists in two intervals of the electric fie
ld values. It is shown that, in binary mixtures, this effect exists on
ly in the GO-Ar (Kr) mixture. Most probably, the NDC in two different
intervals of the field values can occur in three-component mixtures of
two molecular gases and heavy inert gas. The vibrational excitation o
f molecules and existing uncertainty in the cross section values only
slightly affect the double-humped dependence of the drift velocity on
the electric field.
