Abstract
The gain and laser operation of sub-millimeter 1.1%Nd:YAG rods end pumped b y a CW 0.5 W@808 nm diode laser have been demonstrated. The measured gain a nd laser thresholds agree well with the calculated ones. Some advantages of the proposed laser rod design are also discussed. (C) 2001 Elsevier Scienc e B.V. All rights reserved.
