Abstract
The mechanical alloying of iron-copper heterogeneous powder mixtures was st udied in a wide range of compositions. Plastic deformation under pressure w as performed at room temperature. The degree of homogeneity was estimated, and the concentration boundaries of the single-phase states of nonequilibri um solid solutions based on bcc iron and fcc copper were determined. Variou s aspects of the homogenization of iron-copper alloys and the formation of their phase compositions upon mechanoactivation by methods such as shear un der pressure and ball milling are discussed.
