Alkyldibenzyl- and benzyldialkylphosphine oxides were prepared in one stage by direct phosphorylation of a mixture of alkyl bromides and benzyl chlori de with red phosphorus under the conditions of phase-transfer catalysis (co ncentrated aqueous KOH solution-dioxane-benzyltriethylammonium chloride).
