Abstract
A new strontium cobalt phosphate Sr2Co(PO4)(2) (I) was prepared by the soli d-phase synthesis. Crystal structure I was refined by the Rietveld method; space group P2(1)/c, a = 11.6993(1) Angstrom, b = 9.99637(9) Angstrom c = 9 .06743(9) Angstrom, beta = 97.5144(8)degrees, V = 1051.33(2) Angstrom (3), Z = 6, R-WP = 5.97, R-P = 4.51, R-I = 2.21, R-F = 1.13, S = 1.39. Two indep endent cobalt atoms occupy distorted octahedral positions, and three indepe ndent strontium atoms occupy positions with CN = 8, 8, and 9. Compound I wa s studied by IR spectroscopy and DTA; I incongruently melts at 1373 K.
