Abstract
The geometrical model of a stepwise fragmentation of the icosahedron is sug gested. The process is described by the stepwise fragmentation matrix that specifies the trajectories of polyhedral transformations. The validity of t he model is verified by the example of [BaFn] and [LnF(n)] polyhedra in the structures of barium and rare-earth fluorides.
