Abstract
Isotretinoin is the treatment of choice for severe nodulocystic acne. It re presents the sole agent that effectively addresses all of the pathophysiolo gical factors in the production of acne. Dosing recommendations are based o n European trials that included patients with nonacne skin disease, which r equires higher doses of isotretinoin for clearance. In this article, the au thors relate their extensive experience with dosing regimens for acne as we ll as discuss recommendations for length of therapy. Copyright (C) 2001 by W.B. Saunders Company.
