Bi. Kim et al., CONSTRUCTION OF MAGNETIC FORCE MICROSCOPE AND ITS APPLICATION TO MAGNETIC MULTILAYER FILM, Journal of the Korean Physical Society, 31, 1997, pp. 79-82
The construction of magnetic force microscope (MFM) operating in air a
t room temperature has been explained. The magnetic domain in the Co-P
d multilayer film(Co (4.0 Angstrom)/Pd (13.2 Angstrom)x17 layers) was
studied with our home-made MFM. The MFM image obtained under an ambien
t condition in the earth's magnetic field showed a natural magnetic do
main structure. The lines of the image seems to be the domain walls wi
th the thickness of about 500-1000 Angstrom. The contrast of magnetic
structure is dominant compared to that of the topographic structure wh
en the magnetic tip is at the position about 1000 Angstrom away from t
he magnetic sample surface. The finest structure observed in our MFM i
mages is of order about 500-1000 Angstrom.
