Abstract
The Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) along with its complement of fou r experiments commenced operation for physics in the summer of 2000. Initia l results on detector performance, preliminary: physics results on hadron p roduction, and the physics anticipated from the STAR experiment will be rep orted.
