Abstract
A previously reported 'chemical' model proposes that most strongly non -ideal binary mixtures can be described as consisting of both simple c hemical species and their associates. FTIR spectroscopy indicates that the title mixture can be considered to consist mainly of CHCl3, C4H8O , CHCl3 . C4H8O, and (CHCl3)(2). Comparison between experimental exces s enthalpies and those calculated using the model indicates that such a composition provides a viable description of the mixture.
