Cheilitis granulomatosa Miescher is a rare condition of unknown cause chara
cterized by intermittent lip swelling that gradually persists and causes co
smetic deformity. We report the case of a young woman with cheilitis granul
omatosa as a monosymptomatic manifestation of Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome
successfully treated by the antileprosy agent clofazimine. and propose clo
fazimine as an alternative treatment in cases refractory to corticosteroids
. The differential diagnosis and cur-rent methods of treatment are summariz
ed, and the literature is reviewed and discussed.
