Minimizing perioperative adverse events in the elderly

Elderly patients still have the highest postoperative mortality and morbidi ty rate in the adult surgical population. Preoperative clinical assessment to detect patients at high risk of postoperative events, and specific intra operative and postoperative anaesthesia management are important to minimiz e postoperative adverse events in the elderly.
